It has been noted that soprano Lucie St-Martin possesses a distinctive stage presence that captivates audiences. After studying at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal (Donna Brown, Olivier Godin) Lucie completed an artistic residency at the Atelier Lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal (Ariane Girard, Esther Gonthier). She is currently part of Les Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques, as well as the Opera on the Avalon’s Young artist program.
She stands out for the realism and depth she brings to her interpretations, notably in the roles of L’Enfant (L’Enfant et les sortilèges, Atelier lyrique), Giannetta (L’Elisir d’amore, Opéra de Québec), Armide/narration (L’Enfer des lumières, Orchestre de l’Agora), Passagère (Le Flambeau de la nuit, Opéra de Montréal), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte, CMM), Tytania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Opera NUOVA) as well as Meg Giry and Christine Daaé (The Phantom of the Opera, EVENKO). She also stood out in New York by being a finalist in the 2023 Lotte Lenya Competition as well as during a China Tour organized by Les Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques. She will soon be heard in Poulenc’s La voix humaine on tour with Les Jeunesses musicales du Canada as well as in the role of the L’Enfant (L’Enfant et les sortilèges, Ravel) with the Opéra de Montréal.
The brilliance of her voice has led to collaborations with Orchestre Métropolitain, the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, I Musici, Orchestre de l’Agora, BOP and Orchestre de la Francophonie. Lucie has taken part in several international workshops, including InCanto Tignano, the Lachine International Vocal Academy, l’Académie de musique du Domaine Forget and Opera NUOVA. She has worked with several acclaimed professionals, including Joyce DiDonato, Jean-François Lapointe, Marie-Nicole Lemieux and Soile Isokoski. Lucie is a grant recipient of the Jacqueline Desmarais, McAbbie and Desjardins foundations, Jeunesses Musicales Canada, and the Opéra Bouffe du Québec. In 2019, she received the Lieutenant Governor’s Youth Medal.
Born in Gatineau, Québec, Lucie discovered performing arts through musical theater at Artishow school, where she evolved for 8 years. This style will always have an influence on her approach to music and the stage.
